HMD Global has announced that it’s going to release a new product on December 5. Although the company did not reveal the name of the products, most enthusiasts expect that the new phone is Nokia 8.2. This is because the Nokia 8.1 was launched in December last year, and it makes sense that is successor is launched one year later. However, there are some people who think the new phone could be Nokia 5.2. There are others who believe that it’s going to be Nokia 2.3. It’s hard to tell for sure which phone Nokia is planning to release.
We came to learn about the December 5th launch after Nokia posted a 15 seconds video on its Twitter account.
The video did not reveal the details of the new product. However, comments on the Tweet by HMD Global seems to point to the Nokia 8.2. Remember, Nokia 8.1 was launched on December 5, 2018. It makes sense for its successor to be launched exactly one year later.
For the past year, Nokia 8.1 has been one of the best Nokia phones available in Kenya. This phone comes with a 6.1 inches display with full HD+ resolution, Snapdragon 710 processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB storage, dual rear camera with a 12 megapixels primary lens and a 20 megapixels front-facing camera. Nokia 8.1 smartphone also has a 4GB RAM, 64GB onboard storage variant. This device comes with Android 9.0 Pie out of the box but got Android 10 update at the beginning of this year.
There are also rumors that Nokia could release the Nokia 2.3. This phone is expected to be the successor to the Nokia 2.2, a budget phone released in June 2019. Nokia 2.2 is a popular phone in Kenya because it is one of the few smartphones under KSh10,000 with 2GB of RAM, 16GB storage and 4G connectivity. The 2.3 is expected to have three color options.
The new phone could also be Nokia 5.2. Details of this phone leaked in July and it was codenamed “Daredevil”. According to the rumors, this phone will be powered by Snapdragon 660 processor and will have a 48 megapixels primary camera.
All we can do now is wait for HMD global to make an official announcement. We will definitely see more rumors as we head towards December 5th.
